Get rid of motorised traffic entirely. Make it a safe and clean air space for pedestrians and cyclists.

Use seating as a barrier for the park perimeter to discourage people using it as a short cut. Similar to what is used between St John's church and the Imax. Also allow Wahaca to extend terrace into park.

Enjoy the aesthetic and seeing other people enjoy and use the space rather than loiter and pass through

Bug hotels, bird feeders, rockeries for small animals to shelter in and loads of wild flowers

Every year around summer there are tired bees dying on the roads around this garden, as there are no nearby flowers. There have been sightings of lizards and other wildlife close to Waterloo Station. Turning this into a full garden with conservation space for wildlife in the heart of the city can benefit local wildlife and people wanting to have a place to sit.

If you could do anything with Emma Cons Gardens, what would it be?

Make it much more pedestrian friendly, green it a lot, create less seedy seating areas and much better planting, a better green lawn area, potentially am easier way to connect with the park across the road? A bandstand area would be nice which could perhaps team up with the theatres/ venues on the cut for special occasions and festivals, or launches of new performances. This could perhaps overlap with the cafe idea, a bandstand/cafe ran by the old Vic!

What other suggestions do you have?

Connect it somehow with the park across the road, more of an outdoor drink/dining area. The design needs to remove the shaded/secluded areas that homeless and delivery drivers congregate, perhaps by making it actively used by a small cafe/bar affiliated with the Old Vic?
